Floyd Standifer and Friends

Another beautiful Seattle-Sunday, and Reggie introduces the band.

Friend Dina Blade sits in with a few vocals.

Jay Clayton would have lifted the roof had we not been outside.

It's never too soon for jazz in the garden, and a good time was had by all.

Next up, (and last chance):

Sunday, August 27th:

Brenda Bufalino - doyenne of International Tap
Jay Clayton - vocalist extraordinaire
accompanied by Randy Halberstadt

939 25th Ave. S
5 PM

PEARL DJANGO

Some concerts are magical. The confluence of music, venue, weather, audience, and there you have it.

Last Sunday, Pearl Django kicked of the Teahouse Concert Series in our, or I should say, Reggie’s beautifully tended garden.

The day was Seattle warm – meaning, “not too” – the sky was blue, a soft breeze whispered past every now and again, the audience was relaxed, and the band played on – all acoustic “gypsy jazz” that matched the day note for note.

Even Sam, a.k.a., the devil in disguise, transformed himself into mellow dog, and grooved to the tunes.

Thanks to Pearl Django for the tunes, and huge thanks and love to Reggie for putting it all together.

Next week: Floyd Standifer and Friends.

Y’all come:

Sunday, August 20th, 5 PM

939 25th Ave S.
Seattle, WA, USA

RSVP: (206)325-2576 or as a comment to this post.

MAD SONG/WINDY DAY

One afternoon I was sitting in the hills outside Santa
Fe with three or four dogs. It was very hot, very
still, and the dogs were sacked out.

At one moment, and almost as one, the dogs sat up,
perked their ears, and started moving their heads
around. A few seconds later I heard a sound like surf
moving in the distance; and then, after a few more
seconds watched the pinon and juniper catch a breeze
as a wind swept over and past us. The dogs barked
after the wind and chased its tail but couldn't catch
it; and then, once again, it was very hot, very still.

The dogs settled down, but I was hyper-alert, and felt
like a multitude of spirits had just stampeded past.

Here's what came of those moments...

The Aliens Amongst Us

We adopted this little fella from the Columbia City Farmer's Market

It's important for young things to have a supportive home.

I guess we'll eat him.
